ABSTRACT

Adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma [ATLL] is an aggresive malignancy which may occur in human T lymphotropic virus [HTLVl] infected persons. HTLV1 is endemic in Khorasan with prevalence of 2.3% in general population. Since specific cutaneous manifestations of lymphoma may occur in a significant number of patients, we studied ATLL patients in Mashhad In this descriptive study the demographic and clinical data of 23 patient suffering from ATLL who were admitted in hematology and dermatology departments of Ghaem Hospital, during 1995-2004 and had specific cutaneous lesions confirmed histopathologically with atypical lymphocytes in skin lesions, were recorded and analyzed. Eleven patients were male and 12 were female. The mean age of patients was 48.17 +/- 14.1 years. Birth places of over 85% of cases were north of Khorasan. The most common types of specific skin lesions were maculopapular rash in 11 cases [47.8%] and papular lesions in 4 cases [17.4%]. Other lesions included plaque, icthyosis like, erythroderma, tumor, and nodular lesions. In most of patients [56.5%] the skin lesions were generalized The most common type of specific skin lesions in ATLL was maculopapular rash especially with generalized distribution. Other types of specific skin lesions in order of frequency were papule, plaque, icthyosis like, nodule, tumor and erythroderma

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Dermatological lesions are common in all diabetic types. They can result from degenerative or arteriopathic lesions. They can also be the result of antidiabetic treatment. The lesions aren't really specific but some are very suggestive. Our modest work illustrates the frequency [60%] and the diversity of these manifestations which are relative to the diabetic's age, additionnal diabetic complications, the degree of metabolic control as well as socio-economic factors. It's most important to emphasize the need for education concerning diabetes in an effort to enhance the patient's metabolic control as well as improve hygiene, especially with regard to feet care

ABSTRACT

We reviewed the finging in 23 patients with hystologically diagnosed cutaneous angeitis, bet-ween 1981 and 1985. There were 8 males and 15 females, with a mean age fo 43 years. Four hystological patterns were identified: leukocytoclastic angeitis in 9 (31%), lymphocytici angeitis in 8 (35%), capillaritis in 2 (9%) and minimal alterative angeitis in 4 (17%). Serum complement levels were normal in 56% and low in the remainder. fourteen patients (61%) showed positive direct immunofluorescence for complement fractions and different immunoglobulins in skin lesions. All cases with lymphocytic angeitis yelded a positive reaction as compared to only 66% in leucocytoclastic angeitis. No correlation was found between serum complement levels and histologic pattern of angelitis. The present results suggest that direct immunofluorescence in diseased skin is a more sensitive procedure for identifying active cutaneous angeitis
